Development Services Department: Priorities, Strategies, Goals & Objectives
The Development Services Department (comprised of the Building, Business Tax Receipt
and Planning Divisions) aligns with the City’s Strategic Plan, emphasizing Competent and
Effective Government, a Planned and Secure Future, and a High-Quality Lifestyle. The
Department is committed to achieving diverse and impactful goals that contribute to the
City's overall vision.
To ensure progress and accountability, the Department employs key performance
indicators (KPIs) to monitor short-term goals. These KPIs enable the Department to
demonstrate the immediate impact of its activities, providing city officials with actionable
insights for informed funding and resource allocation decisions. For long-term goals,
performance measures focus on analyzing trends and outcomes over an extended
period, ensuring sustained progress toward the City's strategic objectives.
In alignment with Goal #2—boosting the local economy—and Goal #3—delivering
outstanding public services—the Department takes a proactive approach in pursuing the
following objectives:
1. Enhanced Customer Experience: Prioritizing customer satisfaction through

experience.
2. Online Permitting: Leveraging technology to facilitate online permitting requests,
making the process more accessible, efficient, and convenient. This modernization

Lifestyle.
3. Positive Economic Impact: Simplifying permit acquisition processes to attract
businesses and investment, contributing to the City's economic growth and the
achievement of Goal #2.
4. Budget-Conscious Approach: Streamlining processes to balance quality and
cost-effectiveness, aligned with Goal #3, ensuring better value for City residents
without compromising service excellence.
5. Continuous Improvement: Committed to ongoing feedback and evolution, the
Department continuously refines its services, processes, and technologies to
better serve both residents and businesses.
